Oasis of the Seas sets sail with Eaton UPS’s on board

STX Europe, working on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas cruise ship, needed continuous, clean, and highly reliable power to protect critical safety, navigation, automation, and passenger-service systems onboard. The ship’s scale and harsh marine conditions created major challenges for uninterrupted power delivery, making robust UPS protection essential. Eaton provided the marine power protection systems used on the vessel.

Eaton implemented double-conversion online marine UPS technology, including hardened mechanical design, shock absorbers, and drip-proof covers, along with batteries, transformers, and PowerVision management software for monitoring. The solution protected critical loads such as emergency lighting, navigation equipment, HVAC, casinos, and theatres, and included the largest marine UPS Eaton had ever delivered: a 350 kVA Eaton 9395 Marine UPS. The project ensured reliable operation across the ship’s high-tech systems and supported an uninterrupted passenger experience.
