Nissan hits a new high note in efficiency with supercharged supermini

Nissan, the global automotive manufacturer, needed to develop an advanced engine for its next-generation small cars that would improve both efficiency and performance while meeting tougher fuel-economy and emissions requirements. To address this challenge, Nissan worked with Eaton and its TVS supercharger technology for a new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder DIG-S engine.

Eaton’s high-efficiency TVS supercharger helped Nissan deliver the fuel economy of a small diesel with the driveability of a midsize gasoline engine. The result was a supercharged Nissan Note producing just 99 g/km of CO2, making it one of the cleanest gasoline-powered cars in the world, while also benefiting from improved low-end torque, performance, and up to five percent fuel savings.
