A Eaton Case Study
Linde AG, a leading gas and engineering company, faced the challenge of modernizing the low-voltage power distribution at its Gablingen air separation plant. The existing switchboard system could not be remotely controlled, which was a prerequisite for the plant's future connection to a central remote operations center. This necessitated an energy-efficient and secure power supply solution for its highly complex, energy-intensive gas separation processes.
Eaton provided the solution by installing its xEnergy switchboard systems and compact, remotely monitored NRX circuit-breakers. The implementation featured fifteen xEnergy panels with 12 IZMX16 circuit-breakers, which offered a Profibus DP network connection for remote control and a significantly smaller footprint. The result for Linde AG was a modern, transparent, and extremely space-saving low-voltage power distribution system that ensures high availability, allows for remote operation, and was completed within a strict 14-day maintenance window without disrupting customer supply.
