Fima - Customer Case Study

A Lithuanian intelligent engineering solutions company, Fima, was contracted to modernize the power and signaling systems along a vital 112 km Trans-European rail freight corridor. The challenge involved replacing outdated Soviet-era infrastructure that was nearing the end of its service life with a new, reliable 10 kV power distribution system to support the railway's growing freight traffic. For this upgrade, they chose medium voltage equipment from Eaton.

Eaton provided a solution using its compact Xiria ring main units and SVS 08 series switchgear. The equipment's vacuum switching and solid insulation technology offered a long service life with minimal maintenance, enhanced safety, and metering capabilities for billing external power users. The result was a smooth installation with no disruption to railway operations, leading to greatly improved network reliability, better control, and lower operational costs for the railway operator.
