Embraer Selects Eaton’s Fuel-Inerting Solution for KC-390 Aircraft

Embraer selected Eaton to support the next-generation KC-390 military transport aircraft with fuel system components and an on-board inert gas generating system (OBIGGS). The main challenge was meeting demanding fuel-tank inerting and FAA certification requirements, especially for wing tanks and more complex aircraft fuel system designs.

Eaton designed, developed, and supplied the KC-390’s airframe fuel system components and OBIGGS, drawing on its experience with advanced civilian and military aircraft. The solution helped Embraer address certification needs, including inerting system certification, while also providing production units and aftermarket support throughout the program’s life; the case study does not cite specific quantitative results.
