A Eaton Case Study
The Town of Mooresville faced a challenge with its new water treatment plant where two powerful 800 hp pumps were sitting idle. When operated, these new pumps created excessive pressure that overwhelmed the older plant's system, reducing its efficiency. The town needed a variable frequency drive (VFD) solution from vendor Eaton that would integrate these pumps within the facility's space constraints to provide operational redundancy and protect their investment.
Eaton designed and installed a compact SC9000® EP medium voltage drive that was closely integrated with the plant's existing motor control. This solution allowed the new pumps to run at a controlled speed, enabling both the new and old plants to work in tandem efficiently. The highly reliable Eaton drive system increased energy efficiency with a noticeable reduction in power usage, prevented the pumps from rusting, and ensured reliable water treatment services for the town's residents.
