A Eaton Case Study

Preview of the Toyo Trailer Company Ltd Case Study

Eaton’s new DuraForce products help trailer the load

Toyo Trailer Company Ltd., based in Osaka, Japan, needed hydraulics expertise and fast turnaround for a custom 500-ton-capacity oceangoing ship carrier with 18 axles. Eaton supplied its DuraForce high-pressure pumps, motors, and control valves to support the trailer’s wheel drive, steering, and jack-up functions, but the project faced a tight lead-time and supply delays after a late component selection and the March 2011 earthquake.

Eaton responded by fully backing the project, coordinating closely with Toyo Trailer, the axle supplier, and Linde, while streamlining shipping and helping source alternative axle component suppliers. As a result, Eaton’s DuraForce products and axle parts arrived on time to meet production needs, and Eaton helped the customer resolve hydraulic adjustments during assembly. The success generated $1 million for Eaton in 2011 and led Toyo Trailer to commit to additional DuraForce orders in 2012 and beyond.
