A Eaton Case Study

Eaton UltraShift® transmission is really cutting it for veteran log hauler PLUS

James Hansen Forest Products, a veteran log hauler in Michigan, faced the challenge of safely navigating difficult off-road terrain and congested urban traffic while transporting extremely heavy loads of timber. Downtime and high fuel consumption were also significant concerns for the operation. To address this, owner Jim Hansen chose to implement an Eaton UltraShift PLUS automated transmission in his new truck.

The Eaton UltraShift PLUS MXP transmission handled all shift decisions through grade sensing and weight computation, allowing the driver to concentrate solely on safe driving. This resulted in a much easier and safer operation, with Hansen achieving an excellent fuel economy of 4.1 miles per gallon for a heavy hauler. Eaton provided valuable after-sale support, including a software update from a field technician that further improved shifting smoothness and fuel efficiency.
