Eaton power units help smooth the way for Swiss high speed trains

The Swiss national railway company, SBB CFF FFS, faced the challenge of operating high-speed trains on conventional, winding tracks without compromising passenger comfort or safety. To overcome this, they worked with Eaton, whose Hydraulic Power Units were selected to optimize the trains' dynamic performance and reduce sensitivity to track irregularities.

Eaton provided a complete hydraulic solution, including power units with piston pumps and servo valves, to enable an active tilting system for the trains. This implementation by Eaton enhanced the train's dynamic behavior, minimized wheel forces, and significantly improved passenger comfort, allowing for high-speed travel on existing rail infrastructure.
