A Eaton Case Study
Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, needed to reduce weight without compromising the performance of its highly demanding flight control, landing gear, and utility systems. Eaton, through its Aerospace Group, provided the hydraulic power generation and related aircraft systems expertise needed for this commercial aviation program.
Eaton implemented the world’s first 5000 psi commercial hydraulic system for the A380, along with variable frequency fuel pumps, using higher pressure to reduce the size and volume of the aircraft’s hydraulic architecture. The result was a weight savings of a full metric ton, helping improve fuel efficiency and support the A380’s advanced performance goals.
