Case Study: EV Town achieves EV charging readiness with Eaton charging stations

A Eaton Case Study

Eaton keeps EV Town moving

Eaton partnered with the town of Normal, Illinois, which sought to become a model electric vehicle (EV) community known as EVTown. The challenge was overcoming the classic "chicken and egg" problem: people were reluctant to buy EVs without a network of charging stations, but entities were hesitant to install chargers until more EVs were on the road. The town needed to have both EVs and a charging infrastructure available simultaneously.

The solution implemented by Eaton included providing their AC Level 2 Pow-R-Station and DC Quick Charger units, along with a comprehensive partnership plan offering recommendations, training, and marketing support. Eaton collaborated with a local distributor for installation, resulting in nearly 50 charging stations being deployed across the town. This created a successful charging corridor, enabled free public use of the stations, and positioned EVTown as a pioneering community ready for the future of electric transportation.
