Eaton Automation Helps Lead to a Smooth Transition

Schroeder Freight Inc., a heavy-haul trucking company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, needed to spec new powertrains that could deliver the same fuel efficiency as its older pre-emission engines. To solve this challenge, the company turned to Eaton and its UltraShift PLUS MHP automated transmissions.

Working with Eaton and a local Freightliner dealer, Schroeder Freight equipped 10 new Freightliner Cascadia trucks with Detroit DD15 engines and Eaton 13-speed UltraShift PLUS MHP transmissions. The result was about a half-mile-per-gallon improvement in fuel economy after six months, with the potential for up to one mile per gallon more, along with better vehicle performance, strong driver approval, and compliance with emissions regulations.
