Data center firm achieves 100% uptime with 9395 UPS

Granite Networks, a Canadian colocation data center operator in Ottawa, needed a highly reliable, redundant, and efficient UPS solution as it built a brand new Tier 3 facility designed for mission-critical uptime. Vendor Eaton was selected to help support the company’s high availability requirements, with the Power Xpert 9395 UPS and ESS among the products considered for the power protection environment.

Eaton implemented a pair of 275 kVA Power Xpert 9395 UPS units operating redundantly, giving Granite Networks continuous conditioned power, strong scalability, and a small footprint. The result was 100 percent uptime since the facility opened, plus lower utility costs through high efficiency and the ESS option, which Granite Networks said could save about $10,000 per year. Eaton’s support also helped ensure fast repairs and ongoing reliability as the data center continued to grow.
