Preview of the Pinnacle Express Case Study

Aviation Fuel Hauler Soars Into Automation

Pinnacle Express, an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based commercial vehicle carrier specializing in aviation fuel hauling, needed a way to reduce driver fatigue while safely transporting diverse heavy payloads ranging from 80,000 to 140,000 pounds. To address these challenges, the company turned to Eaton and its UltraShift PLUS® MXP transmissions as it looked to modernize its fleet and improve operational efficiency.

Eaton helped Pinnacle Express replace manual transmissions with automation, including 18-speed UltraShift PLUS MXP units that better handled both interstate and in-state hauling demands. The result was improved driver safety and fuel economy, with one truck improving from 5.6 mpg to 7.2 mpg on the same route using the same driver, and Pinnacle Express has already ordered more Eaton transmissions for future trucks.
