Case Study: Zapfwellenaggregatebau Kemper protects agricultural emergency power generators with Eaton circuit breakers

A Eaton Case Study

Preview of the Zapfwellenaggregatebau Kemper Case Study

A manufacturer of emergency power generators equips its agricultural power take-off unit with Eaton circuit breakers as standard

The customer, Zapfwellenaggregatebau Kemper, a German manufacturer of mobile emergency power generators for agriculture, faced the challenge of ensuring their generators could safely start and operate high-consumption farm equipment without overloading, which risked damaging the generator and creating dangerous electrical hazards. To address this, they partnered with vendor Eaton to integrate a specialized generator circuit breaker.

Eaton's NZMN2-VE250 generator circuit breaker was implemented to provide precise overload and short-circuit protection. The solution uses effective value measurement to monitor power consumption, allowing safe startup of high-performance systems and limiting overloads to a maximum of 110% for one hour. This protects the generator, connected farm systems, and humans from damage and electric shock. According to the customer, Eaton's product and support have been outstanding, and the circuit breakers are now included as a standard safety feature on all their units.
