Orlando International Airport Deploys Advanced Weather Monitoring and Alerting Solutions from Earth Networks

Orlando International Airport, a busy central Florida travel hub handling more than 100,000 passengers daily and flights from 41 airlines, faced persistent lightning and severe-weather risks that threatened tarmac safety and on-time operations. To gain accurate, timely weather and lightning information, Orlando International Airport turned to Earth Networks for a comprehensive severe-weather monitoring and alerting solution.

Earth Networks deployed a suite of tools including a total lightning sensor, an on-site weather station (updating every two seconds), web-based weather visualization and alerting, and indoor/outdoor lightning alert devices. The Earth Networks solution gave airport staff and 20 airlines real-time situational awareness, reduced false alarms, improved on-time performance, streamlined operations, and enhanced safety across the tarmac, towers, and terminal.
