India Strengthens Severe Weather Intelligence With Earth Networks

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) faced persistent, deadly severe weather — lightning, flooding and landslides — that contribute to thousands of annual fatalities across India and have a devastating impact on people, livestock and crops in Karnataka. To strengthen early warning capabilities, KSNDMC partnered with Earth Networks to bring the Earth Networks Total Lightning Network and weather intelligence services to the state as part of a broader nationwide deployment.

Earth Networks implemented a network of total lightning sensors, live weather monitoring and real‑time alerting that KSNDMC integrated into its call center and free mobile application to deliver warnings to every village. By providing earlier, more accurate lightning and storm detection, Earth Networks enables disaster managers to warn the public sooner — saving lives, reducing injuries and property damage and improving resilience across sectors such as agriculture, aviation, utilities and education.
