A large gas utility serving the western United States needed to update its foundational dataset for its integrity management system within an aggressive 90-day timeline. Its existing aerial imagery was of insufficient quality to accurately determine building details or land use, forcing teams to rely on slow and problematic field visits for verification. To meet this challenge, the utility engaged vendor EagleView for its high-resolution aerial imagery and data analytics.

EagleView captured high-resolution oblique imagery of the utility's 7,000-mile corridor, which was delivered via its CONNECTExplorer web platform. This provided a single, authoritative dataset that allowed for remote analysis and accurate measurements. As a result, the utility built its state-of-the-art foundational dataset on schedule, eliminated data inconsistencies, and established a system for effective, ongoing change detection that saves hours per investigation.
