El Paso County, Texas faced a Texas-sized challenge: appraising over 400,000 parcels across a large area after a change in the state property tax code required a physical reappraisal every three years. They could not accomplish this with traditional methods without a major increase in funding and staff. This challenge pushed them to seek a new approach and adopt aerial imagery and software from vendor EagleView.

The EagleView solution, which integrated with their existing CAMA system, allowed appraisers to work more efficiently from the office. In the first year, this helped add approximately $63 million in additional property value countywide and allowed the department to handle the increased workload with the same staff. The technology also improved accuracy, with valuations holding 93% of the time during protests, and led to operational savings by reducing the need for expensive field visits.
