City of Norfolk Departments Depend on Pictometry Imagery

The City of Norfolk sought to enhance its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) capabilities to better serve its many departments and residents. To meet this challenge, the city partnered with vendor EagleView and adopted its Pictometry aerial imagery and software solutions, beginning with the desktop application Electronic Field Study (EFS).

EagleView's solution provided highly detailed oblique imagery and powerful cloud-based analysis tools through its CONNECT platform. This implementation had a tremendous measurable impact, with over 300 employees across 18 city departments using the system daily. The results included a significant reduction in costly property assessment appeals, streamlined workflows for stormwater fee calculations and planning, and the creation of public-facing applications that receive over a thousand hits per day, making the technology an integral and indispensable part of the city's operations.
