5 Lessons Aransas County Learned After Hurricane Harvey

Aransas County, a coastal Texas community, faced the immense challenge of assessing widespread property damage after Hurricane Harvey devastated the region. With their own office damaged and only a small team of appraisers, the county needed a rapid and efficient way to evaluate over 29,000 parcels. The county, a current customer of EagleView, utilized its disaster response program and post-event imagery service to address this critical need.

EagleView coordinated flights as soon as airspace reopened, capturing crucial imagery just eight to nine days after the storm. Using these images, Aransas County appraisers were able to review all parcels within eight weeks, discovering that nearly half of the county's structures had sustained at least 25% damage. The solution from EagleView enabled the county to document the hurricane's effects quickly and accurately, which was vital for the recovery and rebuilding process.
