How Smurfit Kappa Expanded Its Transport and Logistics Management with e2open

Smurfit Kappa, a FTSE 100 leader in paper-based packaging with 350 production sites across Europe, the Americas and Africa, sought to centralize and scale transport management across its Europe and Americas segments. While the company had long used e2open’s TMS in Europe, its North American operations faced challenges with visibility, data and reporting, transparency, dependability and customer service and needed a scalable solution to support multi-location, integrated logistics processes.

Smurfit Kappa rolled out e2open TMS in North America (with plans for Mexico) and leverages a dedicated Logistics as a Service (LaaS) team, alongside Customs Management and extended restricted-party screening. The implementation improved visibility of internal and external fleets, standardized processes and reporting, expanded the logistics portfolio, and enabled cost reductions through consolidation, better utilization and optimized routing—delivering faster time-to-value and ongoing operational improvement.
