Groq's Compound AI Systems Are Powered by E2B

Groq, a company specializing in AI hardware and software, needed to build a secure, fast, and scalable code execution solution for its new Compound AI system to maintain its performance advantage. The challenge was finding infrastructure that could run untrusted code safely without adding latency, avoiding slow solutions like Docker or the high engineering cost of building a custom system.

The vendor E2B provided its secure sandbox environment, powered by Firecracker microVMs, to serve as the engine for Groq's code execution. This solution offered the necessary security isolation, fast startup times, and scalability. As a result, Groq successfully launched Compound Beta, which subsequently outperformed competing solutions on its RealtimeEval benchmark for tasks involving live data and computation.
