Missoula County Courthouse restores historic landmark over a decade with A&E Design

The Missoula County Courthouse, a historic neoclassical landmark, required a comprehensive multi-phase restoration to preserve its historic elements while updating the facility to meet modern codes, accessibility standards, and future operational needs. A&E Design, in collaboration with SMA Design, was engaged to undertake this complex preservation and rehabilitation project.

A&E Design implemented a wide-ranging solution that included meticulous historic restoration work, such as terracotta tile and masonry repointing, alongside critical upgrades for ADA accessibility, seismic safety, IT, and electrical systems. The project also involved protecting invaluable historic murals and achieving LEED certification.
