Preston’s College, one of the largest further education colleges in the North West, needed a more accessible, intuitive way to monitor performance after FE oversight split between funding bodies and Ofsted. Their legacy reporting was hard to use for non-technical staff, made it difficult to spot early withdrawal risks, and couldn’t deliver the real-time, role-specific insight required to support retention, funding and day-to-day decisions.

They implemented Dynistics’ Active Dashboards to integrate multiple data sources into visual, drill-down dashboards (including a “first 42 days” early-warning view and a live apprenticeship recruitment tracker). The college now has live, organisation-wide data, faster reporting and self-serve access for tutors and managers, leading to improved attainment, retention and success rates, large time savings, and substantial growth in apprenticeships (starts rose from 433 to 709, a 63.7% increase; 16–18 up 82.5%, adults up 53.9%). The college plans to expand dashboards into marketing, recruitment mapping and finance.
