The State of Minnesota’s IT Services (MNIT) team supports critical citizen services—serving 5.6 million residents and managing applications like the Unemployment Insurance portal. During the COVID-19 pandemic the portal’s traffic jumped from an average 638,000 monthly visitors to a peak of 6.6 million, and stayed above two million per month in 2021.
