Operation Smile Successfully Implements Electronic Medical Record To Access Patient Information

Operation Smile, an international children's charity, was struggling with a paper-based system that hindered patient management and research. They needed to implement an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to efficiently capture and access patient data during their surgical missions. With the help of a donated EMR solution from Vitro Software, they turned to vendor Dynamsoft to provide the critical web-based document scanning capability via its Dynamic Web TWAIN SDK.

Dynamsoft's solution provided a ready-made, cross-browser scanning component that seamlessly digitized patient charts, eliminating the need to build one from scratch. This integration with the Vitro EMR allowed over 13,000 volunteers instantaneous access to patient information, dramatically increasing data accuracy and quality while significantly reducing operational costs. The successful implementation has empowered the charity to extend its reach and better support crucial research initiatives.
