Royal Mail electrifies 75% of Bristol fleet with Dynamon

Royal Mail needed to determine if its 7.5-tonne diesel fleet operating from its Birmingham and Bristol Mail Centres could be replaced by market-ready electric vehicles. The challenge was to understand if the EVs could handle the daily duty cycles and what charging infrastructure would be required before making a significant capital investment. To address this, they partnered with Dynamon and used its ZERO decarbonisation analysis software.

Dynamon analyzed historical telematics data in its ZERO platform to model vehicle feasibility and charging needs. The analysis showed that electrification was 99-100% feasible for the Birmingham fleet, while for Bristol, feasibility rose from 83% to 95% with higher-power charging, making 9 of 12 vehicles ready for transition. Dynamon also provided a detailed energy demand profile and charging schedule, giving Royal Mail the confidence to invest in the necessary vehicles and infrastructure for these locations.
