Cress Company electrifies 61% of HGV routes with Dynamon

Cress Company, a food distribution and logistics operator, needed to understand how to transition its mixed HGV fleet to electric vehicles while maintaining service reliability from its Dunfermline depot. The challenge, undertaken as part of Transport Scotland’s Heavy Goods Vehicle Readiness Fund, involved identifying suitable vehicles, understanding payload constraints, and determining charging infrastructure requirements without excessive grid upgrade costs.

Dynamon used its ZERO software to analyze real-world telematics data, simulating EV replacements and modeling charging scenarios. The analysis found that 61% of HGV routes were suitable for electrification using depot charging only. A managed charging strategy drastically reduced peak power demand from over 3,300 kW to 900 kW, allowing 36 electric HGVs to be supported with just six 150 kW DC chargers. Dynamon provided a clear, data-driven roadmap for a phased electrification that minimized operational risk and infrastructure cost.
