ASDA identifies £350k savings with Dynamon ZERO

Asda, a major UK supermarket with a home delivery fleet of over 4,000 vehicles, faced the challenge of electrifying its diverse operations. The complexity of its store network made it difficult to model the impact of EV purchases and charging infrastructure, leading to a risk of over-specification and overspend. To address this, Asda partnered with vendor Dynamon and used its ZERO planning software to create a data-driven electrification plan based on real operational telematics.

Using Dynamon's ZERO software to analyze vehicle data from multiple depots, Asda was able to run scenarios and identify which stores were ready for electrification. The solution provided by Dynamon identified significant savings, including £5,600 in annual fuel savings per vehicle and a £15,000 underspend per EV by optimally sizing batteries. For a sample of stores, the analysis pinpointed £350k in savings for hard-to-electrify sites and a £780k vehicle investment underspend for easy-to-electrify sites, giving Asda the confidence to expand its electrification plan across the entire fleet.
