Premier Health Care Facility Replaces Their HP Servers with the IBM Power System

Healthcare Organization, a premier health care system with multiple hospitals, affiliated physicians, outpatient centers, and care services, had been a long-time McKesson HBOC customer running on HP hardware. After years of less-than-acceptable results with the McKesson suite, the organization decided to move to EPIC and engaged Dynamix Group to help size and present the IBM Power platform for core Epic Cache DB, failover, reporting, and disaster recovery needs.

Dynamix Group implemented two IBM Power System 750 servers as interface engines, two Power System 730 servers for testing, training, and development, and three Power System 760 48-core servers for the primary EPIC environment, all running AIX 7. The result was a stable, scalable, lower-cost platform that supported a successful migration from legacy applications to EPIC, with better manageability and enterprise reliability than the previous HP-based environment.
