Leading Healthcare Group Experiences the Power of IBM XIV Hyper-Scale Mobility

Dynamix Group helped a large healthcare group with multiple hospitals in Florida tackle a major storage upgrade challenge. The customer needed to migrate 320 TB of data from two existing storage arrays to two new arrays across different SAN fabrics, all while keeping every host online, working during peak business hours, using only two storage admins, and finishing within a month with zero downtime. IBM XIV Storage and IBM Hyper-Scale were central to the project.

Dynamix Group upgraded the environment from IBM XIV Gen3 model 114s to IBM XIV model 214s and moved the SAN infrastructure to Cisco Nexus, using IBM XIV Hyper-Scale Volume Mobility and host attachment tools to migrate data without interrupting I/O or shutting down systems. The migration was completed in 28 days with no downtime, and the customer gained 3x storage capacity, a load-balanced storage array, and 485 TB packed into a single floor tile.
