Automotive Parts Distributing Company, working with Dynamix Group, was experiencing serious performance issues running Harris Data business application software on an aging IBM Power 520 system. The slow application response and extremely long run times were affecting day-to-day operations, creating a need for a faster, more capable data center platform.

Dynamix Group replaced the old system with an IBM Power System 720 (8202-E4D) featuring POWER7+ technology, 32 GB memory, 1.1 TB DASD, and LTO 5 tape. The upgrade dramatically improved performance, cutting the customer’s nightly batch window from 6 hours to 45 minutes, including backup, while also speeding up Harris Data and SQL procedures significantly.
