Imperial launches mandatory ice roads training in time for winter with Dynacor

Imperial, an oil and gas company, required an orientation program for personnel using ice roads at its Norman Wells operations in the Northwest Territories. The challenge was creating realistic winter condition training during the summer months to ensure it was ready before the winter season. Imperial partnered with vendor Dynacor to develop a specialized Ice Roads Orientation eLearning module.

Dynacor employed real-time rendering with Unreal Engine 4 and traditional techniques to create high-quality 3D animations depicting icy terrains within a reduced timeline. The resulting module was successfully launched on schedule and is now a mandatory training requirement for all personnel, enhancing safety and operational efficiency for Imperial's winter operations.
