The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) faced a challenge with its largely offline Community Accommodation Service (CAS), which required probation staff to manage accommodation for prison leavers through complex spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls. This inefficient process created regional inconsistencies and consumed valuable staff time. The MoJ engaged dxw to design and build a new digital service to streamline applications and improve data accuracy.
dxw designed and built a centralized digital service that integrates with the MoJ's existing systems, enabling online applications and management of accommodation bookings. The solution reduced the time and effort needed to complete applications, freed up staff resources, and improved data accuracy for reporting. The service, now rolled out nationally, collects performance data to measure its success in supporting the MoJ's goal of reducing reoffending.
