MHCLG maps the UK's planning system in 18 weeks with dxw

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) needed to understand the UK's complex planning system as a whole to identify pain points and how different systems interconnected. They engaged dxw to conduct research and map the system to help inform future decision making.

dxw implemented a user-centred approach, creating a series of visual tools including an interactive ecosystem map and a story map from the perspective of a piece of land. This work helped MHCLG become more informed and connected by visualizing dependencies, empowering them to make good decisions. dxw's facilitation brought over 50 people from different policy teams together for the first time, enabling open conversations and a unified view of implementation plans.
