Barnsley Council explores IMS sharing with dxw, targeting savings after 40+ councils

Barnsley Council sought to explore opportunities for sharing their in-house Income Management System (IMS) with other local authorities to improve collaboration and reduce costs across the sector. They engaged dxw to conduct a discovery and alpha project to understand the marketplace and assess the value and feasibility of sharing their solution.

dxw worked with Barnsley and several partner councils to research the market, define a complete IMS product and service proposition, and prototype new features. They developed support models and conducted cost modeling, which revealed that significant savings would not be realized until over 40 councils adopted the platform. The work by dxw provided a clear and openly available proposition for other councils to use, advancing the potential for collaboration in local government.
