Asserta Health, a healthcare startup that enables “cash” payments for employers, health plans and providers, needed a low‑cost, scalable payments solution to reduce administrative overhead and simplify onboarding. Dwolla provided ACH infrastructure, instant account verification and dashboard/notification tools that eliminated per‑transaction card fees and enabled secure linking of customers’ existing bank accounts. With Dwolla’s support and the V2 ACH API migration, Asserta improved onboarding, lowered payment costs compared with 2–3% card fees, and positioned the business to scale (targeting an additional ~60,000 users in early 2019 and 200,000+ by 2020) while pursuing a reduction in administrative costs from roughly $0.25 toward $0.05 per dollar.
