How ABM reduced costs and time by automating parking stall layout

ABM, a facilities services provider, faced significant challenges when updating the parking structures at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Shutting down the 5th busiest airport's garages created pressure to minimize traveler impact, and their manual chalk and string method for line striping was too slow and inaccurate. To overcome this, ABM partnered with vendor Dusty Robotics to automate the parking stall layout process.

By implementing Dusty Robotics' automated layout solution, ABM dramatically improved its operation. The Dusty system printed all necessary markings, including parking stalls, directional arrows, and handicap symbols, with 100% accuracy. This automation reduced layout time by over 90%, saving 6,864 man-hours and allowing the garages to reopen ahead of schedule, minimizing disruption at the busy airport.
