LIFTbuild, a company utilizing a novel Vertical Manufacturing approach, faced a significant challenge during the construction of the world's first project of its kind, the Exchange building in Detroit. The complex process of lifting fully-assembled floors required extremely precise material placement to maintain structural balance, a task that left no room for error. To solve this, they turned to layout technology from Dusty Robotics.

Dusty Robotics implemented its layout printing solution to mark the exact positions for materials and utilities on each floor. This ensured perfect weight distribution for safe lifting and organized the workspace for subcontractors. The solution resulted in 100% layout accuracy, completely eliminating rework, and reduced layout time by 75%, cutting the process from four days per floor to a single eight-hour shift. The project was completed successfully on schedule and on budget.
