University of Michigan - Customer Case Study

The Departmental Computing Organization (DCO) at the University of Michigan supports computing for the EECS department and was facing repeated server compromises due to weak admin passwords. Their challenge was to stop account takeover and protect faculty and staff access without disrupting day-to-day work.

DCO deployed Duo Security’s cloud-based two-factor authentication across Unix and Windows servers and internal web applications, integrating via a few lines of code and web APIs. The rollout took under two weeks, covers 60+ servers, offers multiple convenient authentication methods, and—most importantly—no accounts have been compromised since deployment.
