Member Driven Technologies (MDT) secures SSL VPN remote access for credit unions with Duo two-factor authentication

Member Driven Technologies (MDT) is a managed service provider delivering a secure private-cloud backbone to 115 credit unions across 29 states, protecting personal data for 1.97 million members. MDT’s primary challenge was securing SSL VPN remote access and “devaluing” credentials so that compromised logins couldn’t be exploited, while meeting stringent regulatory controls (FFIEC, GLBA, NIST) without adding administrative burden.

MDT selected Duo for two-factor authentication because of its ease of deployment, self-service enrollment and cloud delivery, launching an application on day one and requiring Duo for client access. The solution provided minimal helpdesk overhead, audit-ready logs and device visibility via Duo’s Admin API and Device Insight, enabled internal adoption and custom integrations, and materially strengthened MDT’s security posture against phishing/BEC and helped satisfy compliance requirements.
