How a Dutch healthcare organization protects access to sensitive patient data

ZorgSpectrum, a Dutch healthcare provider for people with chronic conditions, separated from a shared IT platform and had to build its own servers and desktop environment while protecting sensitive patient data. Faced with strict national (LSP) and EU (GDPR) requirements and supplier guidance to adopt multi-factor authentication, the organization accelerated its rollout of Duo to strengthen access controls without disrupting users.

ZorgSpectrum deployed Duo MFA with Single Sign‑On across its main applications, prioritizing easy enrollment, self-service and minimal IT overhead. A pilot found the login flow simple and well received; the rollout cut password-reset work (saving product owners hours weekly), improved compliance with LSP and GDPR, and delivered stronger security without reducing end-user productivity — with plans to extend the solution to remaining apps.
