AmeriGas, the largest retail propane marketer in the U.S., needed to expand multi-factor authentication beyond privileged users to secure remote access and meet PCI-DSS compliance. After a security breach at a sister company, the company also made protecting Cisco AnyConnect and other remote systems a priority, while ensuring the solution would work for a diverse workforce and both corporate and BYOD devices.

Duo Security implemented Duo MFA across AmeriGas’ entire user base of 9,500, integrating it with systems like Cisco AnyConnect, F5, Active Directory, and cloud apps. Duo’s self-service enrollment and device management helped minimize help desk impact, and the rollout delivered stronger remote access protection across employees and contractors while going beyond PCI-DSS minimum requirements.
