A Dunstan Thomas Case Study
Major Infrastructure Provider, a large organisation with a 130-strong software development lifecycle team that had already adopted UML and Sparx Systems’ Enterprise Architect, engaged Dunstan Thomas to address inconsistent processes, poor requirements traceability and the risks/costs of keeping software development in‑house. Dunstan Thomas was asked to evaluate tools and methodologies, standardise practices (RUP/UML/Enterprise Architect) and provide configuration, training and consultancy to drive uniform adoption across teams.
Dunstan Thomas delivered customised Enterprise Architect requirements types, a Template Base project, reusable Word RTF templates and a bespoke EA→Word export add‑in, plus configuration and training. The six‑month engagement (investment £17,000) saw Enterprise Architect 7.1 adopted by some 60 active users across business analysis, development, testing and architecture; developers can now code directly from EA specifications, reducing mistakes, rework and development effort so the customer moves faster and delivers more with less budget.
