Coop Norge, a consumer co-operative retail business with 1.6 million member owners across Norway, wanted to strengthen loyalty and customer satisfaction by moving its customer-first rewards programme from paper coupons to a digital format. To support this shift, Coop Norge worked with Dunnhumby to better understand customer preferences and use the mobile channel to deliver more relevant, personalized offers, especially to younger customers.
Dunnhumby introduced a test-and-learn approach and helped develop an easy-to-use mobile app that delivered personalized reward coupons through customers’ preferred channels. The results were strong: 86% app uptake after the trial period, 70% of coupons redeemed now generated through the app, higher engagement and sales uplift in Coop stores, and reduced paper coupon costs and waste.
