How BI is Changing the Way Health Data is Viewed by the Health Ministry and the Public

The Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet) oversees public health for Norway’s 5+ million citizens and needed to make health data more open, accessible and transparent. Previously the Directorate published static PDFs and tables that were hard to navigate, offered no self-service or mobile-friendly experience, and required technical effort to update — all while needing to protect sensitive information and comply with strict privacy rules.

The Directorate embedded Dundas BI interactive dashboards into its public portal, using HTML5 mobile support, anonymous user access and connections to existing Microsoft OLAP cubes while preserving cell-level security. The change sped content creation, let business users replace about 75% of static reports with interactive visualizations, scaled to serve the public securely, and improved transparency and public-health analysis.
