Case Study: South Lanarkshire Council achieves safer, more accurate winter road maintenance with DTN RoadMaster

A DTN Case Study

Preview of the South Lanarkshire Council Case Study

Supporting safe, efficient roadway maintenance in challenging conditions

South Lanarkshire Council leads the West of Scotland Consortium of 13 local authorities charged with safely planning and executing road maintenance in adverse weather. Facing tight budgets and weather-driven safety risks, the consortium has relied on DTN’s RoadMaster solution for the past three years to provide the data, analytics, and operational intelligence needed to make critical gritting and roadworks decisions.

DTN implemented its route-based RoadMaster platform with hyperlocal forecasts and support from an in-house meteorology team, enabling location-specific planning across multiple road sections. The result was a marked improvement in decision confidence and safety — the consortium rated RoadMaster’s accuracy at 90% versus a 70% benchmark, and they extended their contract with DTN for another two years.
