Case Study: Chevron Corporation achieves automated credit limits and real-time volume control with DTN TABS (DTN)

A DTN Case Study

Automating terminal operations throughout the U.S.

Chevron Corporation, which sells refined fuels at more than 120 U.S. terminals, needed to modernize and automate credit-limit and volume-control management because its legacy system only handled branded business, delayed volume decrements by 15 minutes to several hours, and lacked reporting. To solve this, Chevron selected DTN’s TABS solution (and DTN Allocation Viewer for customer volume visibility) to provide real-time control and visibility across terminals.

DTN implemented DTN TABS to authorize or deny loads based on predefined controls, support pre-approved single-loads, manage credit by gallons/dollars/loads, and apply rules by customer, group, or terminal, while DTN Allocation Viewer gives buyers on-demand volume status. The deployment automated Chevron’s “add a load” process, recorded volume decrements immediately at completion (versus the previous 15 minutes–hours), enabled real-time eBOLs for faster invoicing, reduced credit and inventory risk, and increased customer satisfaction.
