Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate worked with DSV to address the fire risk of storing large quantities of cocoa, especially cocoa powder, which is highly flammable and difficult to extinguish once ignited. After major cocoa fires in the Netherlands, the customer needed a safer warehouse storage approach for its dangerous goods.
DSV designed and equipped two specialized warehouses for cocoa products, using lowered oxygen levels to prevent ignition and liquid CO2 tanks to suppress any fire. The site also uses automated VNA/AGVs for internal movements, improving efficiency and reducing human error. The result is an innovative, fire-safe storage solution that has been running smoothly with no incidents reported.
